Smith's Wood, Solihull: Schools
Schools
Smith's Wood has a mixed picture for schools — an Outstanding primary that's genuinely excellent sits alongside an Inadequate secondary, so you'll want to look closely depending on your children's ages.
Smith's Wood Primary Academy is the neighbourhood's real standout. Ofsted confirmed it's Outstanding, and 82% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths in 2024-25. That's well above the national average.
The secondary situation is tougher. Smith's Wood Academy is rated Inadequate. Its attainment 8 score of 32.2 sits significantly below the national average of around 46. A monitoring inspection happened in January 2026, so things could shift.
St John the Baptist Catholic Primary is also here and rated Good. Kingshurst Primary needs improvement.
Solihull College's Woodlands Campus is based in the neighbourhood, so post-16 learners have a local further education option on their doorstep.
