Schools
Burstead's schools offer a range of options. You've got 2 Outstanding primaries nearby, a Good secondary on your doorstep, and one secondary that's working to improve.
In the neighbourhood, South Green Infant and Junior schools are both rated Good. St Peter's Catholic Primary stands out — it earned an Outstanding rating from Ofsted in February 2024 and had 96% of pupils meeting expected standards in reading, writing and maths in 2024-25. That's well above the national average.
The Billericay School is your closest secondary and it's rated Good. Mayflower High School is rated Requires Improvement, but its December 2025 report shows strong standards in attendance, behaviour and personal development.
If you're after independent education, St John's covers ages 3 to 16 locally.
