Blacon, Cheshire West and Chester: Schools
Schools
Blacon has 6 state schools in the neighbourhood — 4 primaries, 1 secondary, and 1 voluntary aided Catholic primary. The Ofsted ratings are mixed, though things are improving overall.
3 of the primaries are rated Good. The Arches Community Primary School is particularly strong, with 65% of pupils meeting expected standards in reading, writing and maths. St Theresa's Catholic Primary earned its Good rating as recently as May 2024, and Highfield Community Primary also holds a Good rating from its last inspection.
Blacon High School and Dee Point Primary both have a Requires Improvement rating from late 2023, so that's worth considering if you're choosing a school. The University of Chester is just outside the neighbourhood and adds extra educational opportunities to the area.
