Sutton St Mary's, Ashfield: Schools
Schools
Sutton St Mary's has 7 schools covering nursery through to sixth form. Most are rated Good by Ofsted, though one needs attention — it's worth knowing about if you're considering the area.
Two schools sit directly in the neighbourhood. St Mary Magdalene CofE Primary is a state academy rated Good, with an inspection as recent as April 2026 confirming that rating. Westbourne School is an independent special school also based here.
Brierley Forest Primary and Nursery is the one to keep an eye on. It was rated Inadequate in 2021, and a December 2025 inspection report highlighted curriculum, leadership, and inclusion as areas needing improvement.
For secondary education, Sutton Community Academy is rated Good and takes up to 900 pupils.
