Redland, Bristol, City of: Jobs
Jobs
Health, education, and professional services are what drive employment in Redland. What really stands out is how many people work from home — and how many walk or cycle to their jobs.
Health and social work is the biggest employer, with around 1,270 residents working in the sector. Education comes in second with over 1,140, and professional and scientific roles account for nearly 980. These three sectors alone make up roughly half of all employment in the neighbourhood.
The work-from-home numbers are striking. Over 3,970 residents — more than half of those in work — work mainly at home. That's a significant shift that shapes demand for local cafés, shops, and services throughout the week.
When people do commute, many do it on foot or by bike. 961 residents walk to work and 506 cycle. Cars exist here, but they're not the dominant way to get around.
