Moss Side, Manchester: Schools
Schools
Moss Side has a solid selection of state schools nearby, and most are rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted — which is reassuring if you're moving here with children.
You'll find around 10 state schools within reach, covering primary and secondary levels, plus 2 further education colleges. Most are academies or voluntary aided schools, and none are rated Inadequate.
Two primaries really stand out with Outstanding ratings: St Mary's CofE Junior and Infant School, which is right here in the neighbourhood, and Holy Name RC Primary — both inspected in 2024. St Kentigern's RC Primary also has an Outstanding rating. William Hulme's Grammar School recently "improved significantly" at its latest inspection.
Divine Mercy RC Primary is rated Requires Improvement, so it's worth watching how it develops.
