West End

West End covers a wide stretch of the Highlands around Inverness, taking in everything from settled suburban neighbourhoods to small towns and genuinely rural communities. Culloden and Ardersier, Inverness South, Nairn and Cawdor, and Forres all offer solid everyday amenities, from supermarkets and cafés to GP practices and pharmacies, with Inverness itself close enough for bigger shops and nights out. Further out, Badenoch and Strathspey proves that remote Highland living doesn't mean sacrificing infrastructure, with rail stations, good healthcare cover and a surprising 31 coffee shops and 39 restaurants spread across Kingussie, Newtonmore, Aviemore and Grantown. Families are well catered for throughout, with primary schools in every neighbourhood and secondary options including Inverness Royal Academy, Culloden Academy, Nairn Academy and Forres Academy, all run by The Highland Council. Transport is a strength across the suburb, with railway stations in Culloden and Ardersier, Nairn and Cawdor, Badenoch and Strathspey, and Forres, plus good road links via the A96 and A9 connecting to Inverness, Aberdeen and Perth. A car still makes daily life easier in most areas, though Inverness South benefits from local bus stops too. Crime levels are low across the board, and several neighbourhoods, including Culloden and Ardersier and Badenoch and Strathspey, report little to no recorded crime over recent years. Air quality is excellent throughout, and living costs generally sit at or below the UK average, with Forres and Inverness South standing out for lower transport costs. Nairn and Cawdor runs slightly higher on council tax and transport but still comes in cheaper than Badenoch and Strathspey. Whichever neighbourhood you choose, you'll find a good balance of green space, from Inverness South's nine parks to Badenoch and Strathspey's sixteen, making this a suburb suited to families and anyone wanting a quieter pace of life without losing touch with the city.
