Uryside
Uryside combines the convenience of a proper town centre with a wide sweep of quiet Aberdeenshire countryside around it. Inverurie itself is the hub, with supermarkets, banks, restaurants and bars all within walking distance, alongside five primary schools, an academy and a college campus. The surrounding neighbourhoods of East Garioch, Mid Formartine and West Garioch are more rural in character, each with their own well-regarded primary schools feeding into local academies, making the whole area a strong option for families.
Transport links are a real strength here. Inverurie's train station gets you into Aberdeen in under 30 minutes, and both East Garioch and West Garioch have their own stations offering the same direct connection. That said, a car is pretty much essential if you're living in the more rural stretches, where public transport thins out and bigger shops, hospitals and dentists mean a short drive to neighbouring towns.
Safety and air quality stand out across the board, with West Garioch and Mid Formartine both recording no crime over three years running, and clean air a consistent feature throughout. Living costs sit close to or just above the UK average, driven mainly by transport and council tax rather than rent, which stays moderate and covers a good range of property sizes. Altogether, Uryside suits families and commuters who want space, good schools and a settled pace of life, without giving up easy access to Aberdeen.
