Trelander sits on the eastern side of Truro, giving residents the rare benefit of a central city location without losing touch with Cornwall's wider rural charm. The surrounding neighbourhoods of Tregolls and Truro Moresk & Trehaverne put you within walking distance of the railway station, bus station, shops, cafes and restaurants, so you can comfortably manage daily life without a car. Schools perform well across the board, with Good and Outstanding ratings at options like St Mary's CofE School, Penair and Truro School, and healthcare is well covered too, with hospitals and multiple GP practices close by. Crime rates are a consistent strength here, trending downwards year on year and sitting below the national average, which adds to the settled, family-friendly feel found throughout the area. House prices vary depending on exactly where you look: central spots like Truro Moresk & Trehaverne command a premium, with detached homes averaging £575,000, while areas such as Gloweth, Malabar and Shortlanesend offer more affordable flats and semis alongside their own Good-rated primary school. Tregolls strikes a middle ground, with strong terrace values and mid-range detached homes supported by a stable rental market. Venture slightly further out and the character shifts towards quieter, rural living in neighbourhoods like Probus & St Erme and the coastal villages near Goonhavern and St Newlyn East. These areas trade some everyday convenience, since you'll need a car and a short drive for shopping or secondary schools, for low crime, good primary schools and a genuine community feel, with pubs and parks adding to the appeal. Across the whole area, the common thread is a practical, well-connected base with the mild Cornish climate and easy road access via the A30 and A390, making Trelander and its surrounds a solid choice whether you want city convenience or a quieter rural pace.
