The Valley

The Valley, covering the Falkirk area and its surrounding neighbourhoods, is a strong choice for families and commuters alike. Schools are a real strength throughout, with plentiful primaries, Catholic and non-denominational options, and secondaries including Larbert High and Braes High covering the wider area. Rail connectivity stands out too, with stations across several neighbourhoods giving direct links to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling, backed up by easy access to the M9 and M80 for drivers. Day-to-day living costs come in consistently below the UK average across the whole area, with savings on council tax, transport and groceries, and rents remain more affordable than in Scotland's bigger cities. Air quality is excellent throughout, and amenities are well covered, from supermarkets, cafés and restaurants to GPs, pharmacies and dentists, with hospitals also within reach in Bonnybridge and Larbert and Falkirk South. Green space is good too, with parks and a generally settled, semi-rural character running through much of the area. The main variation lies in pace and density. Falkirk North and Falkirk South offer more urban convenience, with closer clusters of shops, banks and services alongside strong transport links. Lower Braes and Upper Braes feel notably quieter, with both recording zero crime over the past three years, smaller village-style amenities and a slower, more rural rhythm, though larger supermarkets and fitness facilities sit just outside their boundaries. Whichever neighbourhood you look at, The Valley offers a practical, well-connected base with genuinely good value for money.
