The Bridge
The Bridge brings together a cluster of Dartford neighbourhoods that share a strong commuter appeal and a reassuring downward trend in crime. The A2 runs through much of the area, giving reliable road access, while railway stations at Stone Castle and the town centre keep London within easy reach, backed up by solid bus services including a dedicated busway through Temple Hill. Air quality is consistently good across the board, and schools are a genuine strength, with Good-rated primaries and secondaries throughout and even Outstanding grammar schools in the town centre.
Housing here spans a wide range, so there's something for most budgets. Temple Hill offers the most accessible entry point, with flats from £184,000 and terraces around £345,000, while Stone Castle and Stone House sit at the higher end, with detached homes reaching £526,200 and semis averaging £438,850. Terraced and semi-detached properties dominate much of the suburb, making it a practical choice for families wanting space without big-city prices. Day-to-day living costs tend to sit at or below the national average, with transport and grocery bills a particular saving.
Amenities vary a little by area but are generally well covered. Newtown, Stone House and Temple Hill all have good access to convenience stores, restaurants and GP services, while the town centre goes further with two hospitals, plentiful cafes and shops. Stone Castle is the one spot where you'll need to venture slightly further for a proper food shop or GP appointment, though it makes up for this with excellent restaurant choice and EV charging. Across the suburb, crime is falling year on year, burglary and violent crime rates are low, and the overall picture is one of a settled, improving area that works well for both families and commuters.
