Stanmore

Stanmore and the surrounding Winchester neighbourhoods offer a strong mix of quiet residential living and central city convenience, all wrapped up in consistently low crime rates and good air quality. Badger Farm and Oliver's Battery, on the southern edge, is the calmest of the bunch, with nearly half its working residents based at home and good local schools, including an outstanding special school. Move closer to the centre and you'll find St Luke, St Michael and St Paul, each offering strong road and rail links, well-regarded schools, and easy access to shops, cafes and restaurants, with St Paul standing out for its on-site railway station and four hospitals. Schools are a real strength across the whole area. Families can choose from well-rated primaries throughout, Winchester College and Westgate School in the central wards, and the University of Winchester nearby in St Luke. Crime has fallen year on year across every neighbourhood, with sharp drops in burglary and vehicle crime, making this a genuinely safe part of Winchester to settle in. House prices vary quite a bit depending on where you look. St Luke offers the most affordable entry point for flats and semis, while Badger Farm and Oliver's Battery commands a premium for detached and semi-detached homes. St Michael and St Paul sit at the top end of the market, with detached homes in St Michael averaging £1.07 million, reflecting their central location and excellent amenities. Whichever neighbourhood you choose, you're getting a mild, dry climate, good transport connections and a strong sense of community that suits families, professionals and commuters alike.
