Southfields

Southfields is a well-connected, family-friendly corner of south-west London, built around its own District line station with easy onward links to central London. The neighbourhood has two supermarkets, a good spread of GPs, dentists and pharmacies, and a strong set of local schools, including Sheringdale Primary and a Good-rated secondary. Crime runs well below both London and UK averages here, and it's still falling. Terraced houses average £1.16 million and flats around £600,000, which undercuts Wandsworth Town but prices above most of its immediate neighbours, a sign of steady demand for the area. The surrounding neighbourhoods reinforce this picture. Wimbledon Park, East Putney, Wandle and West Hill all offer good transport links (mostly District line or Underground stations), low and falling crime, and schools rated Good or Outstanding, with standout options like Wimbledon Park Primary and Ashcroft Technology Academy. Green space is well distributed too, from Wimbledon Park's 5 parks to pockets of parkland near Southfields itself, and air quality across the area is notably good for inner London. Wandsworth Town adds a denser mix of restaurants, shops and riverside charm, plus its own railway station and strong healthcare provision, making it more of a lifestyle hub for those who want amenities on the doorstep. House prices vary considerably depending on which neighbourhood you look at, giving buyers real choice. Flats start from around £435,000 in Wimbledon Park and £500,000 in Wandsworth Town, while terraced and detached homes stretch up to £1.26 million in Wandsworth Town and £2.4 million in East Putney. West Hill and Wandle tend to offer better value than Southfields itself. Across the board, though, the common threads are clear: strong schools, low and falling crime, good transport, clean air and a growing café and restaurant scene, making this pocket of Wandsworth a genuinely well-rounded option for families and professionals alike.
