Oxley

Oxley stands out as one of the more affordable corners of Wolverhampton, with detached homes averaging £292,900, well under prices in neighbouring Tettenhall Regis, where similar properties fetch £556,000. Day-to-day life here is well catered for, with a hospital, GP surgery, dentist and pharmacies all close by, alongside Outstanding and Good-rated schools including Bushbury Lane Academy and Aldersley High. Crime has fallen sharply in recent years, down from 91.8 to 57.5 incidents per 1,000 people, sitting comfortably below the national average. Car owners will find getting around straightforward thanks to easy access to the A449 and the wider motorway network, and both transport costs and council tax run below the UK average. The surrounding neighbourhoods echo much of what makes Oxley appealing. Bushbury North and Bushbury South & Low Hill offer even lower house prices, with semi-detached homes from around £185,000 to £220,000, strong school performance and crime figures that have dropped just as steeply. St Peters brings a different flavour, with excellent transport links, including a railway station, tram stops and cycleways, plus a dense cluster of amenities such as 100 restaurants and 36 coffee shops, making it the most urban and connected of the group. Tettenhall Regis and Bilbrook, meanwhile, sit at the premium end, offering more space, stronger school reputations (including Tettenhall College) and a quieter, village-like feel, though at a higher price point and with more reliance on driving. Across the area, the common threads are clear: falling crime rates, solid school provision and good value compared with much of the wider region. Where the neighbourhoods differ is in character and cost, Oxley and the Bushbury wards offer practical, budget-friendly family living, St Peters suits those wanting urban convenience and transport links, while Tettenhall Regis and Bilbrook appeal to buyers prioritising space, schools and a more settled, semi-rural pace of life. Whichever direction you look from Oxley, you're within easy reach of good schools, healthcare and the motorway network, making it a sound base for families and commuters alike.
