North Side is a collection of neighbourhoods built around affordability, making it a strong option for families and buyers who want more space for their money. House prices run well below many neighbouring areas throughout, from terraced homes at £93,700 in St Michael's to detached properties averaging £249,000 in Moss Cottage and Moorclose. Living costs stay below the UK average across the board too, covering groceries, transport and everyday essentials. Schools are a real strength here. You'll find Good and Outstanding-rated primaries scattered across the area, including St Patrick's and Northside in St Michael's, an outstanding infant school in St John's and Great Clifton, and a Good-rated junior school in Seaton. Healthcare and daily amenities are well covered too, with GP surgeries, pharmacies and a hospital within easy reach, plus a good spread of shops, pubs and restaurants, particularly in St John's and Great Clifton, where 18 pubs and restaurants sit right on the doorstep. Transport varies a bit depending on where you are. St Michael's has its own railway and bus stations, while the other neighbourhoods rely more on nearby bus stops and rail links close by, so having a car makes daily life easier in most parts. Crime and air quality also differ across the suburb: Seaton, St John's and Great Clifton, and Moss Side and Moorclose all report low crime and excellent air quality, while St Michael's sees crime levels above the national average, so it's worth looking street by street if that's a priority. Overall, North Side suits buyers after good value, solid schools and a settled community feel, with the coastal setting in Seaton adding another appealing option within the suburb.
