Movilla
Movilla is a quiet, family-friendly suburb of Newtownards where safety and affordability stand out. Crime rates across the area sit consistently below both the Northern Ireland and UK averages, with several neighbourhoods reporting further falls into 2026, and living costs, from council tax to groceries and utilities, run well below the national figure throughout. Schools are a real strength here too, with a good spread of primaries and secondaries including Abbey Primary, Movilla High, Regent House and Loughries Integrated Primary, giving families plenty of choice within easy reach.
Day-to-day life does mean relying on a car. Most of the surrounding neighbourhoods, from Cronstown and Glen to Gregstown and Movilla itself, have limited amenities on their own doorstep and lean on Newtownards or nearby areas for wider shopping, healthcare and leisure. That said, road links are solid throughout, and residents nearer Conway Square or Loughries benefit from better public transport, including a bus station and railway station respectively, plus easy access to Belfast City Airport for commuters.

The likes of Cronstown, Glen and Gregstown are more rural and residential, trading convenience for peace and quiet. Movilla itself sits somewhere in between, covering the basics locally, a supermarket, food outlets and places of worship, while still depending on neighbouring areas for anything more. Across the board, though, good air quality and strong value for money make this a consistently appealing spot for families and buyers alike.
