Layton

Layton and the neighbourhoods around it make up one of Blackpool's most affordable and well-connected corners, with house prices consistently undercutting nearby areas like Talbot and Fylde. Layton itself stands out for healthcare access, with 5 GP practices and 7 hospitals on hand, plus an Outstanding-rated primary school and its own railway station. Neighbouring areas each bring their own strengths: Brunswick and Claremont offer budget terraces and flats with excellent air quality, Greenlands and Park provide some of the cheapest detached and semi-detached homes in the area, and Marton suits those wanting more space with easy access to the A583 and M55 for commuting to Preston. A few themes run right across the area. Living costs, especially transport and groceries, sit well below the national average almost everywhere, and crime has been falling year on year, with burglary and vehicle crime staying low throughout. Schools are a consistent strength too, with Good or Outstanding ratings cropping up in nearly every neighbourhood, including Westminster Primary Academy, Stanley Primary and Park Community Academy. Healthcare provision is solid across the board, with GPs, dentists and pharmacies either within each neighbourhood or a short trip away. The main differences come down to transport and lifestyle. Layton and Claremont benefit from railway stations and strong bus links, while Greenlands and Marton lean more on road connections and suit drivers better. Claremont and Park lead on eating out and everyday shopping, though some amenities like banks and bakeries sit just outside their boundaries. Overall, this is a part of Blackpool that works well for buyers and renters after affordability, good schools and improving safety, with the choice between neighbourhoods largely coming down to how much you value being near the coast, a train station, or open road links.
