Fox Pond
Fox Pond sits within the New Forest's coastal belt, surrounded by a cluster of well-regarded neighbourhoods including Lymington, Milford & Hordle, Pennington and Sway. The overriding theme here is safety and calm: crime rates across all these areas are low and falling, and schools consistently rate Good to Outstanding, making this a strong pick for families. Clean air and plentiful green space are a given too, with the New Forest on the doorstep and village amenities like pubs, cafés and shops covering day-to-day needs.
Housing and lifestyle vary a fair bit depending on which neighbourhood you lean towards. Lymington offers the most established market town feel, with a self-sufficient centre and ferry links to the Isle of Wight, but it commands the highest prices. Pennington gives you much better value, with detached and semi-detached homes well below Lymington's prices and the cheapest flats in the area. Sway stands out for its own railway station, a genuine rarity for a village this size, though you'll pay a bit more for detached homes there than in Pennington. Milford & Hordle rounds things out with strong coastal appeal and prices that top most of its neighbours.
Transport is the one consistent catch: a car is essential almost everywhere, with public transport limited outside Sway's rail link and the A337 providing the main road route. Living costs sit a touch above the national average in places, largely down to council tax and travel. What you get in return is a settled, family-friendly part of the world with a strong sense of community, good schools and easy access to both coast and countryside.
