Drumnamoe

Drumnamoe sits in a quiet corner of County Armagh, made up of several rural and residential neighbourhoods that share a strong family-friendly, settled character. Schools are a real strength across the area: Dickson Primary, Lurgan Junior High, St Ronan's College, Ceara Special School and Lurgan College all feature prominently, alongside well-regarded primary options in Aghagallon and Magheralin. Crime rates run consistently below the Northern Ireland and UK averages throughout, and where they've historically been higher, such as in Shankill, the trend is now firmly downward. Air quality is good across the board, and living costs, including council tax and utility bills, stay noticeably lower than the UK average. Getting around does generally mean having a car, with most neighbourhoods describing themselves as car-dependent despite good road links via the A3 and M1 into Lurgan, Portadown and Belfast. That said, Parklake and Lough Road offer railway access, giving commuters a car-free option into the wider region. Day-to-day amenities vary by pocket: Mourneview and Parklake have GPs, dentists and shops within the neighbourhood itself, while areas like Aghagallon, Knocknashane and Magheralin keep things quieter and more residential, with supermarkets, restaurants and larger shops just outside the immediate boundary in neighbouring towns. Housing across Drumnamoe is a strong draw for value-conscious buyers and renters, with rents running below Belfast levels and rising only modestly year on year, particularly for three-bed family homes. The overall picture is one of a peaceful, affordable, and safe area with excellent school provision, where you'll trade some on-the-doorstep convenience for lower living costs and a genuinely settled community feel.
