Drumgask

Drumgask sits across a cluster of County Armagh neighbourhoods, from Bleary and Waringstown through to Brownlow, Craigavon Centre, Kernan, Mourneview and Shankill, and the picture that emerges is a consistently family-friendly, good-value part of Northern Ireland. Schools are a real strength throughout, with primary and post-primary options either on your doorstep or a short trip away in areas like Mourneview, Kernan and Shankill, plus specialist provision such as Ceara Special School. Crime rates run below both the Northern Ireland and UK averages across the board, and where they've historically been higher, as in Shankill, the trend is now firmly downward. Living costs are the other standout theme. Every neighbourhood here beats the UK average on day-to-day expenses, council tax and rent, making this a genuinely affordable place to buy or rent compared with Belfast and much of the rest of the UK. Rents stay steady and accessible across property sizes, and even where prices have crept up recently, as in Craigavon Centre, affordability holds up well. Daily amenities, convenience stores, GP surgeries and a scattering of shops and cafes, are covered locally in most areas, with fuller shopping, dining and healthcare options just a short drive beyond the immediate neighbourhood. The trade-off is transport. This is a car-dependent part of the world, with the A3 doing much of the heavy lifting for road access to Lurgan, Portadown and beyond, while public transport stays limited throughout. Craigavon Centre is the exception, offering decent rail links that make commuting to Belfast or Armagh more straightforward. Air quality is consistently good given the rural and semi-rural setting, and whether you land in a village like Waringstown or a more built-up pocket like Brownlow, you're getting a settled, community-focused environment that prioritises space, schools and value over city-centre buzz.
