Dishley

Dishley is a quiet, family-friendly area on the edge of Loughborough, offering easy access to the town's amenities while keeping a more residential, settled feel. Schools are a real strength throughout, with Good and Outstanding ratings across the board, including the Outstanding Ashmount special school and well-regarded primaries nearby. Crime runs well below the national average and continues to fall, and good air quality features across the surrounding neighbourhoods too. Loughborough itself sits right on the doorstep, bringing a wide choice of cafés, restaurants, pubs and shops, plus strong healthcare provision with two hospitals and plenty of GP surgeries. Loughborough University adds a steady student presence and helps keep rents and property prices more accessible than you'd find in neighbouring Rushcliffe. Transport works well for commuters, with the M1 and trunk roads close by, train stations serving routes to Leicester and Nottingham, and lower-than-average transport and grocery costs across most of the surrounding wards. A car is still useful if you're further out towards Soar Valley or Dishley's quieter residential pockets, where bus and rail links thin out. House prices vary noticeably depending on exactly where you look. Loughborough East and Storer offer some of the most affordable options, with terraces from around £180,000 to £200,000, making them good choices for first-time buyers. Soar Valley sits at the other end of the scale, with detached homes averaging £539,900, reflecting its semi-rural setting and larger family plots. Loughborough Southfields, right in the town centre, commands the highest prices for semi-detached and terraced homes, trading a touch more cost for being able to walk to almost everything. Whichever part of Dishley you choose, you're never far from good schools, everyday amenities and solid transport links into the wider region.
