Currynierin
Currynierin sits on the edge of Derry, pulling together a handful of quiet, settled neighbourhoods that all share the same basic appeal: low crime, affordable living and a calmer pace than city life. Across the area, you'll find crime rates well below the UK average, living costs that undercut the national norm on groceries, council tax and utilities, and a rental market that's stable without being static. Families are well catered for too, with primary schools dotted throughout the area, including Sacred Heart in Clondermot and options in Drumahoe, Kilfennan and Slievekirk, plus Oakgrove Integrated College serving the wider Enagh area.
Getting around means having a car. The A6 and A2 give solid, direct access into Derry city centre, but public transport is limited across the whole suburb, so day-to-day life relies on driving rather than buses or trains. Once you're mobile, though, everything the city offers, from bigger supermarkets to healthcare and secondary schools, is within easy reach.
The neighbourhoods do vary a little in character. Clondermot and Drumahoe feel more self-contained, with parks, a post office, pubs and supermarkets close by or on the doorstep. Kilfennan has seen crime fall steadily since 2024 and offers handy access to pharmacies, convenience stores and a coffee shop. Enagh and Slievekirk lean more rural and residential, with fewer amenities within the immediate boundary but good provision just a short drive away. Whichever part of Currynierin you land in, you're buying into the same formula: affordability, space and a settled community within easy striking distance of Derry.
