Brockhurst

Brockhurst sits within Gosport and shares the quiet, affordable, family-friendly character that runs right across this part of the coast. Housing is a real draw, with semi-detached homes averaging £277,800 and flats from £137,800, both well below many neighbouring areas. Crime has fallen sharply too, down to 44.7 per 1,000 people, less than half the national rate, and still dropping. Good primary schools sit within walking distance, though it's worth checking secondary options separately, as the wider Gosport area offers strong choices including Good-rated schools through to sixth form at nearby St Vincent College. The surrounding neighbourhoods reinforce this picture of practical, good-value living. Elson, Grange & Alver Valley, and Leesland & Newtown all offer similarly affordable terraces and flats alongside well-rated primary schools, while Forton and Rowner & Holbrook add stronger everyday amenities, with restaurants, convenience stores, a supermarket, GP surgeries and even a hospital within easy reach. Alverstoke, to the south, commands a premium for its detached and semi-detached homes and coastal setting, giving a sense of how property values shift across the wider area depending on proximity to the water and amenity levels. Transport is the one consistent trade-off. None of these neighbourhoods has a railway station, so residents rely on cars, buses, or in Alverstoke's case the ferry to Portsmouth, for most journeys. Secondary and primary roads give solid links to Gosport, Fareham, and the M27, and the A32 is a useful route north, but public transport stays limited throughout. On the plus side, mild coastal weather, good air quality, and low damp risk are shared benefits across the whole area, making it a settled, pleasant place to live for those happy to drive for their daily needs.
