Blue Town
Blue Town sits on the Isle of Sheppey, bordered by Minster Cliffs, Queenborough and Halfway, and Sheerness, and the area as a whole offers some of the most affordable coastal living in Kent. Sheerness leads on price, with terraced homes averaging around £197,000, while Queenborough and Halfway comes in a little higher with detached houses at £330,900 and flats at £156,500. Minster Cliffs rounds things out with stronger prices for detached and semi-detached homes, giving buyers a clear choice depending on budget and property type.
Schools are a strong point across the board. Each neighbourhood has at least one Good-rated primary, with Outstanding options either on the doorstep or a short trip away, making this a practical area for families. Crime rates are falling year on year throughout the three neighbourhoods and sit well below the national average, adding to the sense of a settled, safe place to live.
Getting around does mean leaning on the car in places, though Sheerness and Queenborough and Halfway both have railway stations with links to Sittingbourne, Maidstone and London, and the A249 gives decent access to the M2. Bus coverage is modest throughout, so it's worth checking routes if you don't drive. Day-to-day life is well catered for, especially in Sheerness, which has a good spread of cafes, restaurants and GP, dentist and pharmacy provision. Add in lower-than-average living costs, decent air quality and a drier, sunnier coastal climate, and Blue Town comes across as a budget-friendly spot well suited to families and first-time buyers looking for value without sacrificing on schools or safety.
