Ballynamony

Ballynamony sits within a cluster of neighbourhoods around Lurgan and Craigavon that share a strong family-friendly character and genuinely low cost of living. Schools are a real strength across the area, from Brownlow's six local options to Lurgan College, Dickson Primary, St Ronan's College and various Catholic maintained primaries, so families tend to have good choices close to home. GP practices, dentists and everyday shops are generally well covered too, and crime rates have been falling consistently across nearly every neighbourhood, with burglary and vehicle crime staying low throughout. Living costs run well below the UK average across the board, with cheaper utilities, council tax and groceries, and rents stay affordable even where they've started to rise. This is largely car-dependent territory, with the A3 providing the main road link to Lurgan, Portadown and beyond, though a few pockets buck the trend: Parklake has its own railway station, and Craigavon Centre benefits from good road and rail connections to Belfast and Armagh, making it the most commuter-friendly spot in the area. The main differences come down to setting and amenity depth. Derrytrasna and Lough Road offer a quieter, more rural feel built around pubs, parks and places of worship, with good air quality but fewer shops on the doorstep, meaning a car is pretty much essential. Mourneview and Shankill lean more residential, with a tighter cluster of schools and local services, while Craigavon Centre and Parklake stand out for stronger transport links and a broader mix of restaurants and everyday amenities. Whichever neighbourhood you look at, though, the combination of low costs, falling crime and solid school provision makes this a practical, settled area for families and anyone after more space for their money.
